Who knows why the government is shutting down TAFE and its funding in favour of private colleges and universities? Is this what the community wants?

We could get really brave and offer FREE courses to those required for rebuilding our stricken fire areas.
The TAFE ad on TV at the moment is Excellent.

We need to get others into this discussion. Do you think TAFE does anything online line unis do?

I agree that TAFE should get MUCH more money to set up the learning of practical skills from handcrafting skills, to IT skills, to accountancy, to management skills, etc.
keep university for those with the academic leanings, AND make it easier for students to transfer between either if attendance at one makes them realise they are really better suited to the other.

I am 100% with you Margaret. I studied Accountancy at tech and it was great practical learning. Financial analysis was so much easier as I knew how easy it was for figures to be falsified. Some, but not all, uni grads  just assumed the figures they analysed were correct to start with, which they often were not.

With the review of secondary school exit exams, I support more spending on TAFE courses which will upskill our work force and bring employment to many disenfranchised from Uni.
